Writing

In my career, I have published peer-reviewed papers in ecology, exploring the often unseen interactions between organisms and their environments. I am the editor of the Tasmanian Ceramics Association newsletter and I write and edit articles about what is going on in ceramics studios and galleries across Tasmania.

I also write fiction concerned with how people move through and respond to place and to one another. My work considers how personal histories and locations shape identity, and how that influences how we interact with each other.

In my fiction I am drawn to small moments of attention — a birdcall, a warm breeze, a particular scent — that can carry us through memory to another time. In those moments of focused awareness, even a single breath can carry consequence.
